Malaria is a major public health problem in Cameroon. According to the Malaria Journal of June, 5, 2007, a major malaria carrier responsible for most malaria cases was identified in Cameroon. Pregnant women, new born babies, and Children less than five years old are the most affected. The country has over 900,000 cases a year. It accounts for 45% of hospitalization around the country; it costs 40% to 45% of the household income.
